PE
Welcome to our PE Page
As Subject Leader for Physical Education, I am incredibly proud to champion a subject that sits at the heart of our curriculum driver: Health and Well-Being. With a degree in Physical Education and Physical Activity, I bring both academic knowledge and personal passion to this role. I am a dedicated sportsperson who genuinely enjoys all sports, and I believe that enthusiasm is infectious — when children see passion, they feel inspired to take part.
I firmly believe that PE and physical activity are vital to children’s physical, mental and emotional well-being. Being active is not just about competition; it is about confidence, enjoyment, belonging and lifelong healthy habits. I am determined to ensure that every child is active for at least the recommended 60 minutes per day, helping them to develop healthy routines that will benefit them far beyond primary school.
PE and school sport provide far more than physical skills. Through sport, children learn teamwork, perseverance, determination and resilience — qualities that support success in all areas of life. My aim is to create inclusive, engaging and ambitious opportunities where every child can thrive, challenge themselves and experience the joy of movement.
I am excited to continue developing PE across our school, ensuring that health and well-being remain at the core of everything we do.
Our Intent – What We Want for You in PE
In PE at PJS, we want everyone to:
Take part in fun, exciting and active lessons where everyone has an equal chance to succeed.
Improve their skills step by step, building on what they have already learned.
Feel confident to try new things and challenge yourselves.
Work as part of a team, showing fairness, kindness and good sportsmanship.
Learn how to solve problems and think carefully during physical activities.
Enjoy dance and gymnastics as ways to express themselves.
Understand how to live a healthy, active lifestyle now and in the future.
Develop fitness habits that will help them make positive life choices.
Our Implementation – What PE Looks Like at Our School
This is how we help you achieve these goals:
You take part in at least 2 hours of PE every week.
You learn lots of different sports and activities such as invasion games, net and wall games, striking and fielding, swimming, dance and gymnastics.
Lessons are planned carefully so you build your skills each year.
Teachers and coaches use different ways of teaching so everyone can succeed.
We revisit skills regularly to help you remember and improve them.
You complete the Daily Mile twice a week to help keep your body active and healthy.
Year 5 children go swimming, and some Year 6 pupils join too, so most children can swim at least 25 metres confidently.
There are lots of sports clubs before, during and after school.
You can take part in competitions during the year.
Some Year 6 pupils become Sports Leaders and House Captains, helping to organise activities and becoming role models for younger children.
