Wonderful Walliams 24.04.2026

Date: 24th Apr 2026 @ 4:15pm

This week has been another fantastic and productive week in class, with the children showing great enthusiasm and curiosity across all areas of learning.

In PSHE, we explored the important topic of staying safe online. The children discussed different scenarios they might encounter on the internet and thought carefully about how to respond safely and responsibly. They learned about protecting personal information, recognising when something doesn’t feel right and who to talk to if they are unsure. We also spent time looking at the role of money in our everyday lives. The children developed their understanding of the difference between money and currency, why money is important in society and how it helps us to buy goods and services. They also discussed different ways we can spend and save money and began to think about making sensible financial choices.

In Computing, the children built on their understanding of algorithms by designing their own to support everyday tasks, such as getting ready for school. They carefully considered the importance of clear, step-by-step instructions. We then moved on to using Scratch, where the children remixed an existing quiz project. They demonstrated fantastic creativity by adapting the code, changing questions, improving designs and even adding new features to make their quizzes more engaging and interactive.

In Art, we explored a variety of batik artwork. The children made detailed observations and engaged in thoughtful discussions about what they could see. They identified key features such as repetitive patterns, bold and vibrant colours and intricate floral designs. Many children also began to consider why these patterns might have been chosen and what they could represent, showing great depth in their thinking.

In History, we continued our learning about the Edo Empire, looking more in-depth at the role of the Oba. The children used a range of research skills to find out why the Oba was such an important and powerful figure. They explored how he ruled, his influence over the kingdom and how he was viewed by the people. It was wonderful to see the children working collaboratively to gather and share their findings.

Overall, it has been a week full of excellent effort, thoughtful discussions, and growing confidence across the curriculum. Well done to all the children for their continued hard work and positive attitude to learning!

Have a lovely weekend!
