We have had another fantastic week of learning and the children have worked incredibly hard across all subjects.

In Science, we explored food chains and discussed why they are important in helping living things survive. The children identified different animals and classified them according to their diets, including herbivores, carnivores and omnivores. They also investigated the role each animal plays within a food chain, identifying producers, consumers and predators. The children enjoyed making connections between different living things and understanding how they depend on one another.

In Geography, the children began preparing for their upcoming local area walk, which they will be completing in a few weeks' time. They discussed the key features they will be observing and recording during their visit. This included looking at the amount of litter in different areas, assessing the quality of street lighting and evaluating the condition of roads and pavements. The children showed great enthusiasm and are looking forward to applying their geographical enquiry skills in the local environment.

In Computing, the children developed their data-handling skills using Excel. They entered temperature data for Chelmsford over the course of a week and then used this information to create a line graph. The children learned how graphs can help us interpret data more easily and practised presenting information clearly and accurately.

The children also became designers and engineers by creating their own automated machines using Sketchpad. They drew and annotated their designs and explained exactly how their machines would work. Some children designed machines that used flood sensors to automatically raise flood barriers when water levels became too high while others incorporated thermometers that could detect low temperatures and automatically release grit-dispensing vehicles to make roads safer during icy conditions. This activity helped the children understand how sensors and automation are used to solve real-world problems.

Well done to all the children for their continued hard work and positive attitude towards learning. We hope you all have a wonderful weekend and look forward to another exciting week ahead!
