Wonderful Walliams 17.04.2026

Date: 17th Apr 2026 @ 3:59pm

What a fantastic start we have had to the Summer Term! The children have returned to school full of enthusiasm, curiosity and excitement - it has been wonderful to see them diving straight into their new learning topics.

On Wednesday, we launched our new Science topic, Animals Including Humans. The children began by exploring the human digestive system, where they identified and named the different parts involved in the process. They showed great interest as we discussed how food travels through the body and the important role each organ plays. There were some brilliant discussions, thoughtful questions and a real buzz of curiosity around the classroom.

Thursday saw the start of our new History unit focusing on the Benin Kingdom. The children used their chronology skills to explore how the Benin Kingdom changed over time. They worked carefully to sequence key events and began developing their understanding of this fascinating civilisation. It was wonderful to see the children thinking critically and making connections as they discovered more about the past.

Today, we introduced our new Art unit, which will focus on textiles. Over the coming weeks, the children will be learning about and creating their own batik designs. To begin, we explored the work of influential designers and artists including William Morris, Laura Ashley and Cath Kidston. The children enjoyed examining patterns, colours, and styles and were already brimming with ideas for their own creations.

Well done to everyone for such a brilliant start to the Summer Term — I can't wait to see what next week brings!

Have a lovely weekend!
