We have had a fantastic first week back after half term, filled with exciting learning opportunities across the curriculum.

On Wednesday, we started our new Geography unit on our local area by exploring how and why environments change over time. The children investigated different examples of local area change, including how flooding can impact communities and how the development of the Olympic Park transformed and regenerated the surrounding area. We discussed that some environmental changes are caused by people's choices, while others occur naturally or unexpectedly. The children shared some thoughtful ideas and demonstrated excellent curiosity throughout the lesson.

On Thursday, we continued our Animals Including Humans unit in Science, focusing on the importance of looking after our teeth. The children learned about good dental hygiene and explored how different foods and drinks can affect tooth health. To investigate this further, we set up an exciting experiment using eggs to represent teeth. The children placed the eggs in different drinks and made predictions about what might happen over time. They are eagerly awaiting the results and cannot wait to see what we discover next week!

On Friday, the children began our exciting new Nature Curriculum. For our first lesson, the children became tree detectives in our school forest. They worked carefully to identify different types of trees and used their observation and mathematical skills to calculate the ages of the trees they found. It was wonderful to see the children so engaged in outdoor learning and developing a deeper understanding of the natural world around them.

It has been a brilliant start to the half term and we are looking forward to many more exciting learning experiences in the weeks ahead!

Have a wonderful weekend!
