Tolkien Class Update 16/10/26

Another Busy and Exciting Week in Tolkien Class
We have had another busy but exciting week in Tolkien Class, with lots of learning, teamwork and opportunities to share our ideas.
In English, we edited and published our persuasive letters. We worked carefully to improve our word choices, organise our arguments and make sure that our writing was clear and convincing. It has been fantastic to see the progress made as our letters developed from first drafts into finished pieces and I've no doubt that Bilbo will join the quest!
In maths, we have been learning about multiplication. The children have been practising their times-table facts and using different methods to solve multiplication problems. They have shown determination when explaining their thinking and checking their answers.
We have also finished our forces topic in science with a mechanisms experiment. This gave us the chance to apply what we have learned and explore how mechanisms work in practice by using basic classroom stationary. The children enjoyed making observations, discussing their results and concluding whether their predictions were correct.
In history, we considered the impact and legacy that the Anglo Saxons left on our local area. We found out some fascinating facts about what Chelmsford would have been like during their era, helping us to make links between the past and the place we know today.
We finished the week with two full run throughs of our Harvest Festival Assembly. The children have worked hard to remember their words, songs and movements, and they are becoming increasingly confident performers.
A special mention goes to our Pupil of the Week, Jude, who has shown a positive attitude and made a strong contribution to our class this week.
Have a great weekend everyone, just one week to go until a well earned half term break!
