This week in Seuss Class

Date: 2nd Oct 2026 @ 1:53pm

What an exciting week we have had in Year 3!

In English, we have been exploring twisted fairy tales and using our imaginations to create our own versions of The True Story of the Three Little Pigs from the perspective of Alexander T. Wolf. The children then became authors themselves, creating their own unique stories with wonderful titles such as The Three Little Rabbits and The Little Capybaras. Their creativity was brilliant with clever twists and interesting characters. It was fantastic to see how much they enjoyed expressing their ideas and the humour they brought to their tales.

In Science, we continued our learning about rocks. We investigated the durability of different types of rocks and discussed which rocks would be most suitable for different purposes. The children enjoyed making observations, asking scientific questions and thinking carefully about which rocks would be strong enough for a ramp at a skateboard park.

In PE, we have been developing our teamwork and sportsmanship skills. Through a variety of games and activities, the children practised catching and throwing while learning the importance of encouraging one another, working together and showing respect during games.

In PSHE, we explored the connection between our minds and bodies when we experience emotions. We discussed how strong feelings can affect our bodies and learned about mindfulness techniques that can help us feel calm and regulated. The children practised simple breathing and mindfulness activities and reflected on how these strategies can support their wellbeing when they experience challenging emotions.

A small reminder please can water bottles, all PE kit and uniform be labelled clearly.  We are often hunting lost items each day and it would make it much easier to track things down if they are named. Thank you for your support

The race has begun for golden pencils with a lot of gold stars being given out this week for excellence of presentation, creativity and working scientifically.

Well done, Seuss Class, for another week of hard work, creativity and enthusiasm. We look forward to seeing what next week brings!
