Remembrance Assembly – Coming Together to Honour Service and Sacrifice
Date: 14th Nov 2025 @ 10:34am
This week, our school community came together for a thoughtful and meaningful Remembrance Assembly, reflecting on the importance of honouring those who have served and continue to serve in the armed forces. Following this year’s theme from the Royal British Legion, we focused on giving thanks to the entire Armed Forces community—past and present—who have dedicated themselves to protecting others.
As part of the assembly, we watched a powerful and insightful video exploring how people of many different religions and backgrounds fought side by side throughout history. The children were fascinated to learn that unity, courage, and shared purpose reached far beyond individual faiths or cultures. We even discovered that there is a memorial dedicated to this very idea: a tribute to the diverse communities who stood together in times of conflict. This message of solidarity really resonated with the pupils.
Later in the morning, after break, the whole school gathered once again at 11:00am for the national act of remembrance. As the cannons sounded from Chelmsford town centre, everyone fell silent for two minutes of reflection. It was a moving moment, with pupils showing great respect and maturity as they thought about those who have sacrificed so much.
The day served as a powerful reminder of the strength found in unity, the importance of gratitude, and the enduring significance of remembrance.
