What another brilliant week we have had! The children have been busy learning, exploring and discovering new things, and it has been fantastic to see their enthusiasm and curiosity shine through in everything they have done.

Science – Exploring Air Resistance

In Science, we have continued our learning about forces, with this week’s focus being air resistance. The children became scientists and engineers for the lesson, designing and making their very own parachutes using a range of different materials.

Once their parachutes were ready, they put their designs to the test! The children made predictions, carried out fair tests and carefully observed how their parachutes fell. They investigated how changing the materials affected the speed at which their parachutes descended and thought carefully about why this happened.

It was fantastic to see the children developing their scientific thinking and showing such a good understanding that air resistance acts against the movement of an object and can slow it down. They were particularly excited to see whether their predictions matched the results!

History – Anglo-Saxon Social Classes

In History, we travelled back in time once again to the Anglo-Saxon period. This week, we explored the different social classes within Anglo-Saxon society and discovered that people could have very different lives depending on where they belonged.

The children learned about kings, thanes, churls and slaves, exploring the different roles and responsibilities each group had. They discovered how a person's social position could affect their home, job, rights and everyday experiences.

The children really enjoyed putting themselves in the shoes of people from different social classes and discussing what life might have been like for them. They were fascinated to discover just how different daily life could be for people living in the same period, simply because of their position in society.

It has been another fantastic week of learning and we are incredibly proud of the children's hard work, enthusiasm and willingness to get stuck into every new challenge. It is wonderful to see their confidence growing as they ask questions, share ideas and make new discoveries.

Well done, everyone — another brilliant week!
