Remarkable Rundell 16.10.2026

What a wonderful week we have had, full of enthusiasm, curiosity and hard work!

On Wednesday, we explored an important historical question: What do sources teach us about the Anglo-Saxon justice system? The children investigated a range of sources and thought carefully about what these could tell us about life in Anglo-Saxon England. They showed excellent historical thinking by comparing evidence, asking thoughtful questions and drawing conclusions about how justice was carried out at the time. It was fantastic to see them engaging so confidently with the past and discussing how reliable different sources might be.

In Science, we brought our topic on forces to a close by learning about mechanisms and how they help things move. The children found out how gears, levers and pulleys work and were able to explain how each one makes a task easier or changes the way something moves. We also looked closely at where these mechanisms appear in everyday life, from bicycles and playground equipment to lifting devices and machines around us. The children showed brilliant problem-solving skills and were keen to share their ideas and observations throughout the lesson.

To finish the week, we spent time practising for our harvest festival. The children sounded absolutely fantastic and brought so much care and energy to their rehearsal. It has been lovely to hear their confidence growing and we know they are going to do an amazing job when they perform. They cannot wait to show you all the hard work they have put in.

We cannot wait to share more with you next week.

Have a lovely weekend!
