Remarkable Rundell 02.10.2026

Date: 4th Oct 2026 @ 8:23pm

What another exciting and busy week we have had in class! The children have been working incredibly hard and it has been wonderful to see their enthusiasm, creativity and confidence across all areas of their learning.

Harvest Festival Rehearsals

We have been busy rehearsing for our upcoming Harvest Festival performance. It was fantastic to see just how many children had already learnt their lines! The children have been working hard to remember their parts and are becoming more confident with each rehearsal. We are looking forward to putting all of our hard work together for the final performance!

History – Anglo-Saxon Beliefs

In History, we explored the question: how did Anglo-Saxon belief systems compare with other belief systems we have previously studied?

We revisited some of the groups of people we have studied, including the Benin Kingdom, Romans, Ancient Egyptians and Ancient Greeks. Working in groups, the children researched Anglo-Saxon beliefs and compared them with the belief systems of these other civilisations.

The children then presented their findings to the class. It was fantastic to see them making connections between different periods of history and confidently sharing what they had discovered. They were particularly good at identifying both similarities and differences between the different belief systems.

Science – Water Resistance

Our Science learning this week was all about water resistance and streamlined shapes.

As part of our Working Scientifically skills, we focused on using test results to make predictions and then setting up further comparative and fair tests.

The children were given an exciting challenge: design and make a boat using what they had learnt about water resistance and streamlined shapes.

We discussed how the shape of an object can affect the amount of resistance it experiences. The children then carefully considered the best shape and design for their boats.

Once their boats were ready, it was time for the boat race!

The children tested their boats using a fan to push them along and investigated which designs travelled the fastest. It was brilliant to see how carefully they had thought about their designs and how they applied their scientific understanding to their creations.

It is safe to say that their boats were a great success! The children thoroughly enjoyed testing, comparing and evaluating their designs and they showed fantastic scientific thinking throughout the investigation.

Well done, everyone, for another fantastic week of learning!

Have a wonderful weekend!
