Cowell Class Update 25.09.2026

Date: 25th Sep 2026 @ 2:33pm

Another week into the autumn term and we are slowly but surely finding our feet and getting used to our new routines at school. It has been wonderful to see the children growing in confidence each day and settling so well into life in Cowell Class.

This week, we began our first English topic and what an exciting start it has been! We have been exploring The True Story of the Three Little Pigs. Did you know that the real story was actually all about a sneeze and a cup of sugar? The children have thoroughly enjoyed discovering this different version of the traditional tale and are already showing great enthusiasm for our learning.

In Maths, we have been focusing on place value and recognising numbers up to 1,000. The children have worked incredibly hard to show their workings out clearly and carefully. I have been particularly impressed with how confidently they are beginning to tackle reasoning and problem-solving questions, explaining their thinking with a growing understanding of mathematical concepts.

Our PSHE lessons have encouraged some thoughtful discussions this week. We explored different scenarios and talked about how we might feel in those situations. The children also considered what can happen to our bodies when we experience different emotions and began to develop their understanding of empathy by thinking about how others may feel.

I was so pleased to see that every child completed their House Homework! The work displayed in the hall was absolutely phenomenal and it was wonderful to see the pride the children took in their creations. On Friday morning, children were able to purchase a cake at our Macmillan Coffee Morning and spend time admiring the fantastic work produced by every individual child across Perryfields. It was a lovely opportunity to celebrate everyone's achievements.

A huge congratulations goes to our Pupil of the Week, Jayden. Jayden has had a superb week from start to finish. He has been polite, courteous and a fantastic role model to others. On top of this, he has absolutely steamed through every maths challenge given to him, approaching each task with confidence and determination. We are all incredibly proud of him. Well done, Jayden!

Well done, Cowell Class! Keep up the fantastic work and have a wonderful weekend. We can't wait to see what next week brings! 🌟
