Cowell Class Update 16.10.2026
Date: 16th Oct 2026 @ 2:15pm
What a fantastic week it has been in Cowell Class!
I am incredibly proud of all the children for the wonderful attitude they have shown this week. Their behaviour has been impeccable and has improved hugely, with children consistently making positive choices and demonstrating our school values every day. Their outstanding efforts were recognised with some well-deserved reward time, which they thoroughly enjoyed. It was lovely to see the children celebrating their success together.
In English, we finished writing our step-by-step instructions on How to Train a Dragon. The children carefully considered each stage of the process and used clear, precise language to explain how to successfully train a dragon. They worked hard to organise their ideas and present their instructions in a logical order.
In Maths, we began our new unit on addition and subtraction. We focused on number bonds and explored how ten frames can help us to visualise numbers and solve problems efficiently. The children showed great enthusiasm and are already building confidence with these important skills.
In Science, we looked in more detail at fossils and palaeontology. We learned about how fossils are formed and explored why they are so important in helping us learn about the past. We also discovered how Mary Anning was a huge influence on the study of fossils and palaeontology. The children researched her life and achievements, helping them to develop a greater understanding of her remarkable passion for fossil hunting and the impact she had on scientific discovery.
A huge well done to our Pupil of the Week, Reuben, who has rocketed up the behaviour chart and has shown an exceptional attitude to his learning. We are all very proud of the fantastic progress he has made and the positive choices he continues to make each day.
Have a lovely weekend, and we look forward to another exciting week of learning next week!
