Another brilliant week has flown by, and what a fantastic one it has been!
We wrapped up our science unit by exploring how sounds can be absorbed and what makes an effective sound-absorbing material. The children were fascinated to investigate which materials worked best, carrying out practical tests and making careful observations. We discussed how sound travels through vibrations and how certain materials can reduce noise by trapping sound waves. It was wonderful to see the children applying their scientific thinking, working collaboratively, and using key vocabulary with growing confidence as we concluded the topic.
On Thursday, we held our Safer Internet afternoon, which led to some truly thoughtful and engaging discussions—particularly around the use of AI. The children impressed us with their maturity and insight as they explored both the exciting opportunities AI can offer and the importance of using it safely and responsibly. They shared examples of how technology can support learning, while also considering risks such as misinformation and privacy. It was fantastic to see them asking perceptive questions, listening respectfully to one another, and reflecting on how to make positive choices online.
We finished the week on a high with our Year 4 Enterprise Day, themed around the Romans. The children did a fantastic job sharing their learning with others and took great pride in showcasing what they had discovered throughout the topic. From creative projects to informative presentations, their hard work truly shone through. They were enthusiastic throughout the day and demonstrated excellent teamwork, communication and confidence when speaking about their work. It was a joy to see how much knowledge they have retained and how eager they were to celebrate their achievements.
Well done to everyone for such a positive, hardworking, and inspiring week. Have a lovely half term break!
