Super Scientists!

This week has been a super week in science! The children have been busy investigating how water can change from one state to another and we explored this through a fun melting experiment.

To bring the idea to life, we used different types of ice lollies to observe how quickly they would melt. The children made predictions about which lolly they thought would melt the fastest and discussed why that might be. Then we carefully set up our investigation, making sure to give each lolly the same conditions so the test was fair.

As we watched, the children recorded their observations, noticing how the ice lollies changed from solid to liquid over time. They were fascinated by the differences in how quickly each one melted and linked this back to factors such as the shape and size of the lollies.

The children had gained a brilliant understanding of how water can change state—from solid ice to liquid water—and they had great fun along the way!
