What an exciting last couple of weeks we've had in Cowell! We’ve been busy exploring some fascinating topics in science and geography.. Here’s a little look at what we’ve been up to…

Last week, we started our new topic on earthquakes. We learned that earthquakes happen when the Earth’s plates move and shake the ground.
We watched videos of real earthquakes and talked about how buildings, roads and even mountains can change when the ground moves!

Our science topic is light and we’ve already started discovering how light helps us see the world around us.
We learned that light can come from different sources, like the Sun, lamps, torches and even glowing animals!

On Monday, we had a very special visit from our local firefighter!
He taught us all about how to stay safe in a fire and what to do if we ever smell smoke. We learned:

  • “Get out, stay out, call 999!”

  • Why smoke alarms are so important

  • How firefighters use their equipment

Well done for a fantastic start to the second Autumn term!
