Wonderful Walliams 04.07.2025

Date: 6th Jul 2025 @ 11:38am

It’s been another exciting and jam-packed week in Walliams Class, filled with discovery, hands-on learning and a whole lot of curiosity!

In Science, we concluded our Animals Including Humans topic by learning about the inspiring work of Dr. Jane Goodall. The children were fascinated to hear how Jane dedicated her life to studying chimpanzees and how her observations changed the way we understand animals and ourselves. Her story sparked lots of thoughtful discussions and questions—especially about how we can care for the world around us.

In Geography, our journey took us all the way to Brazil. We explored why the country made the decision to move its capital city from Rio de Janeiro to the purpose-built Brasília. The children loved looking at maps and discovering how cities grow and change over time. We compared the two cities and talked about the challenges and benefits of creating a brand-new capital in the middle of the country!

The week ended with a very special event—our Whole School Science Day, all based around the theme of Hospitals. Throughout the day, the children had the exciting opportunity to visit each year group and take part in a variety of activities, each focusing on a different part of the body:

In Year 3, they explored X-rays, identifying bones and learning how doctors use this technology to help diagnose injuries.

In Year 4, they discovered the wonders of the brain, learning how it controls everything from movement to memory.

Year 5 introduced the children to the eye, where they explored how we see.

Finally, in Year 6, they examined the heart, understanding how this incredible organ works to keep blood flowing around the body.

The day was filled with awe and wonder, and it was brilliant to see children so engaged in their learning, asking questions, and sharing their knowledge with each other.
As always, it's been a week full of learning, laughter, and curiosity—and we can’t wait to see what next week brings!

Have a wonderful weekend!
