Geography Day in Cowell!
Date: 12th Jun 2025 @ 7:49am
This year’s Geography Day was more than just maps and compasses—it was about looking out the window and imagining a better future!
As we gathered in our classroom to celebrate the wonders of geography, we had the challenge to use our own environment as a case study. Instead of flipping through atlases or watching documentaries, we turned to something much closer: the view right outside our window.
From where we sit, we can see the school field, a couple of trees and the edge of the car park. At first, it just looked like a normal school. But with a little imagination—and a lot of discussion—it became a canvas for change.
We broke into groups and brainstormed ideas.
-
Where could we plant more trees or bushes?
-
How could we reduce the amount of concrete?
-
Could we add a garden or a wildflower meadow?
-
What if we had some bird boxes on the tree?
We’re putting our ideas together and who knows—maybe our window view will look very different next year!
