Lewis Class 08.03.2024

Date: 10th Mar 2024 @ 1:11pm

What another brilliant week in Lewis Class!

On Monday afternoon, we started looking at our new science unit ‘Living Things and Their Habitats’. During the lesson, we explored what makes something living by looking at ‘Mrs Nerg’ and grouped living things in different ways. All of the children thought carefully about the different characteristics of different animals which enabled them to sort the animals in a variety of ways.

On Wednesday, we started our DT unit where our final outcome will be to make an afternoon tea. During the lesson, the children created a questionnaire which would enable them to conduct research about what their target audience would enjoy in their afternoon tea. The children used their prior knowledge from their computing lessons in the autumn term to create their quiz on Microsoft Forms.

On Thursday, we celebrated World Book Day where the children came dressed as adventurous vocabulary! During the day, the children finished their own horror stories and applied their chosen word in their work.

In the afternoon, the children continued their Geography unit of climate zones where they looked at how the different climate zones are distributed around the world and how this affects the weather patterns of different countries.

On Friday, we continued our Computing unit of Scratch where we looked at how to use variables. The children then used their new knowledge to continue creating their times table game that they started to create last lesson.

Next Thursday (14/03) is Science Day! Please remember to bring in your projects about this year’s theme of ‘Time’ and show off everything you have learned whilst conducting your investigations! I cannot wait to see them!

Well done to our ‘Pupil of the Week’ James for his brilliant growth mindset – keep up the excellent work James!
