Lewis Class 05.01.2024
Date: 7th Jan 2024 @ 8:43pm
What a fantastic start to the New Year! Lewis Class came back to school ready and refreshed for a new term!
Over the last two days, in English, the children have been writing their own narrative poetry linked to growth mindset and the story 'What To Do With A Problem'. All of the children thought carefully about how to make their poetry rhyme and used a stanza structure to include a beginning, middle and end.
In maths on Thursday, the children were looking at related calculations and how we can use these to help us when multiplying and dividing multiples of 10 and 100. On Friday, the children were using the distributive law to multiply 2-digit numbers by 1-digit numbers where they started by using partitioning and then moved on to using the expanded formal method.
In Science, we looked at how switches are used in an electrical circuit and why they are important. During the lesson, we looked at different types of switches and where we have seen them in everyday life and then the children applied their learning by creating an alarm system for a museum thinking about all of the knowledge they have gained over the last unit.
In Art, the children completed an artist study of Gustav Klimpt by looking at who he was and why he is important to our next unit. The children discovered that Klimpt's early artwork consisted of portraits of people before he moved on to symbolism.
