Covid 19 Update

As you are aware Perryfields Junior school will be following government advice and for the majority of our children we will close today (20/03/20).

Many of you will be feeling as I do, grief-stricken at the thought of any closure of our wonderful school and some of you will be feeling anxious as to how this announcement will impact on you and our precious children. What we must remember is that these decisions have been made for the greater good, and as we are all living through this unprecedented period of challenge, we must all play our part in conquering the impact of COVID 19.

Unfortunately, I am very sorry, but at this stage, we do not have a re-opening date.

However, what I do know is that all our community have shown remarkable respect and resilience these past few weeks. We have all been treating the government’s decisions with respect by modifying our routines and practises in school daily and by also making sure that we follow their guidelines by self- isolating where necessary. Our children and staff have shown great resilience when dealing with changes; their disappointment that fixtures and events they were looking forward to have been cancelled has not distracted them from our main objective which is teaching and learning and keeping our community safe. I cannot thank you enough for your support with this.

Also, thank you to all staff who delivered target sharing reviews via telephone conversations with parents on Tuesday and Thursday. Our staff were happy to provide this service rather than cancel, which is testament to their determination to provide parents with timely information so that they can share their child’s learning journey with them.

I feel so sad that this is my final newsletter of the Spring term and that, for the time being, we will not be sharing your children with you, but I have every confidence that when we are altogether again, we will continue as we were before-strong and committed to being the best we possibly can.

I hope you all stay safe, well and happy.
